Today at the Nokia World Conference in Stuttgart, Nokia launched yet another amazing series of mobile phones: the Nokia Xseries. The Xseries is not a brand new Nokia series, it is more of a re-branding of the very popular XpressMusic branding; however, it does have a new orientation since the Xseries will include more complete and capable smartphones than the previous XpressMusic series, and what better phone to start this series than the X6 announced today by Nokia.
The Nokia X6 is a totally amazing device, it is both the first device in the Xseries and the first device to feature a capacitive touchscreen. And what is a capacitive touchscreen? Well, there are two types of touchscreens, resistive and capacitive. The capacitive touchscreen feels the electricity in human hands while resistive just feels pressure, the conclusion is that capacitive is much better because is more sensible; and although Nokia has done a great job with the N97’s resistive screen, a capacitive screen in upcoming devices will improve substantially the user experience.
Apart from the great screen improvement in the X6, the phone has some more amazing features. For example, the 5 Megapixel camera with Carl-Zeiss Lens and Dual Flash, the 32GB of on board storage, WLAN, 3G, Bluetooth, A-GPS and the latest version of S60 5th Edition. The Nokia X6 also has an amazing desing, very simplistic, Nokia-style but yet never before seen on a Nokia device. It is just a table, and a really good looking table. It comes in three colors, white, blue and red.
Unfortunately, the Nokia X6 apparently won’t come in the NAM 3G version, although the official specifications aren’t released yet. The Nokia X6 will ship in the 4th quarter of this year for 450EUR, stay tuned for more news on the X6!
