Nokia outsourced the Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 to Taiwanese manufacturer Compal, but according to new reports, Nokia’s high-end devices will be manufactured in house. The report specifies that the Lumia 900, which is rumored to be announced this upcoming Monday at the Consumer Electronics Show, will be manufactured in Nokia-owned plants. The Nokia N9, for example, is made by Nokia in Finland.
If this will be the case, I would like to see Nokia play the “Made in Finland” card. The U.S has long forgotten Nokia, and new generations are likely to mistake Nokia as an Asian low-end phone manufacturer. Nokia should take advantage and brand it’s upcoming high-end devices as premium “Made in Finland” smartphones.
