Nokia Lumia 800 With AT&T Bands Passes Through the FCC

The Nokia Lumia 800 was just spotted passing through the FCC with AT&T bands on board. The Lumia 800 was initially released supporting two European bands and only one American band. The new Lumia 800 passing through the FCC, however, has both of the bands required by North American and most South American carriers. This could mean we could see the Lumia 800 on AT&T soon, or it could also mean that Nokia is just testing the Lumia 800 for South American carriers that use the same frequency; it’s been official for a while that some South American countries will get the Lumia 800 early next year. We’ll know more January 9th when Nokia holds their CES press conference.

If they are going to release Nokia 800 without any major polishing or features, I assume it was a wrong strategy and will be a major disappointment by releasing the same device about 2 months later since most of the excitement and expectations from this device has vanished during that time and also due to some drawbacks on the spec of this device. Instead people are more interested about the rumoed lumia 900. In that scenario, it would be the hard sell since it would be lacking in too many ways except the form factor. Then, I expect ATT to sell this device in between 50-100 US dollar. I don’t think it will be able to compete with 99cents focus flash and other two flagships of WP7 on ATT just looking on the design in this tough economy.

I agree with you, a Lumia 900 or something with higher specs is required to take the U.S by storm. The Lumia 800 as we know it today and two months after announcement won’t likely cut the deal for many.

Personally, after looking the lumia 900 render (maybe fake or real), I find the lumia 800 quite not impressive. May be l am liking the render too much.

For my ideal device I need at least a 4″ screen, the 800 is a bit small for my taste. I have my fingers crossed for the 900!!!!
